Every page or custom ranges: how splitting works

Split PDF has two modes. If you leave the page ranges field empty, every page becomes its own one-page PDF — useful for a batch of scanned receipts or a stack of single-page forms saved as one document. If you type ranges, each range becomes a separate PDF. For example, 1-3, 5, 8-10 produces three files: pages 1 to 3, page 5 alone, and pages 8 to 10. Pages you don't mention are simply left out.

Because splitting usually creates more than one file, the results are packed into a single ZIP archive so you only have to click once. Every major operating system can open ZIP files without extra software: double-click it on Windows or Mac, or tap it in the Files app on iPhone and Android. Inside, the files are numbered in the order of your ranges.

Splitting doesn't re-render or compress anything, so the pages in the new files are identical to the original, with sharp text and intact links. The whole process runs in your browser; your PDF is never uploaded, which makes it safe for contracts, medical reports and other sensitive paperwork.
