Write, draw and highlight on a PDF without special software
Most everyday PDF editing is not really editing at all. You want to add a date and your name to a form that has no fields, circle a figure for a colleague, highlight the paragraph that matters or cover an outdated address and write the new one next to it. We built Edit PDF for exactly those jobs. Pick Text and click anywhere on the page to type, in any language and with any characters. Pick Draw for freehand lines, Highlight for a translucent marker, or White-out to drag a solid box over something you want hidden.
Everything happens in your browser. The file is never uploaded, which matters when the PDF is a payslip, a medical letter or a signed contract. When you save, your additions are stamped as an image layer on top of each page you changed. The original text and vector graphics underneath stay exactly as they were, so the rest of the document stays sharp and searchable.
We want to be clear about the limits. This tool does not change the existing text in the PDF; you cannot click on a sentence and retype it. The practical workaround is to cover the old words with a white-out box and place new text on top. For heavy rewriting, convert the file with PDF to Word, edit it there and export it back. And because white-out only hides content visually, use Redact PDF whenever something confidential must truly disappear.
Our take
We reach for Edit PDF when a document is almost right: a date to add on a lease, a note in the margin of a draft, a highlighted clause before we forward a contract, or a wrong phone number we want to cover and retype.
Our honest advice is to treat it as a pen, not a word processor. It cannot change the existing text. For a small correction we draw a white-out box over the old words and place new text on top, matching the size by eye. We keep the original file too, in case we need a clean copy.
The pitfall: white-out only hides content visually, so never use it to remove anything confidential. That is what Redact PDF is for. And if a whole paragraph needs rewriting, PDF to Word is the better route.
