Merge PDF Files on iPhone and iPad

Combining PDFs on an iPhone used to mean installing an app, creating an account and often paying for a subscription. With pdfdots you can do it straight from Safari or Chrome on your iPhone or iPad. Open this page, tap the drop area, choose Browse to pick PDFs from the Files app, iCloud Drive or another storage provider, and add as many as you need. Put them in order with the up and down arrows, tap Merge PDF, and the combined file is saved to your Downloads folder in Files, ready to share by Mail, Messages or AirDrop.

Everything happens on the phone itself. The PDFs are not uploaded to any server, which is reassuring when the documents are things like a lease, a passport scan or payslips for a rental application. Modern iPhones are more than powerful enough to combine typical documents in a couple of seconds, and the page keeps working even if your signal drops after it has loaded.

iOS also has a built-in option: in the Files app, tap Select, choose several PDFs, tap the three-dot More button and pick Create PDF. It's quick, but files are combined in the order they appear in the folder, so you may need to rename them first to control the sequence. The browser method gives you an explicit list you can rearrange before merging. Once your merged PDF is ready, you can compress it in the same tab if it is too large to attach to an email or upload to a form.

A few iPhone-specific habits save us time. If Safari asks whether to download the file, tap Download and then find it through the blue arrow in the address bar. If your PDFs arrived as Mail attachments, save them to Files first with Save to Files, because the picker cannot reach inside the Mail app. When a document is split across a Google Drive or Dropbox folder, enable that provider under Browse > More Locations so it shows up next to iCloud Drive. We also rename the merged file before sending it; a name like lease-application-2026.pdf tells the recipient far more than a generic download name.
